| The New York NightFri, 15 Feb 2008 08:08:26 -0800 by lukegordonharrisA lowly motion graphics designer is visited by an old flame. This recounts the events following. ***If it's too dark I'm sorry, I'm doing this on an LCD laptop monitor, so the colours are probably different to yours.This was done as a spare time project, a combination of several different effects - described later. I didn't have a common theme to link all the shots together, so I just came up with a sly nod to film noir & other stuff. It's not mind-blowing scripting, but it'll do for the moment :)Process - this was filmed on an overcast afternoon, so a day-to-night process was done on the footage in After Effects CS3. The windows weren't keyed out, they were masked out, with myself being painstakingly rotoscoped back into the shot. The Holograph TV was all AE, corner pinning & other effects.Sound was mixed in Ableton Live 6, Music was also composed there. Dialog was recorded on a Rode NTK through a mackie Onyx satellite.And no, I don't really live in New York. Thanks to Andrew Kramer of videocopilot.net for the tutorials which influenced this. | SU Schoolies Pluggers ReunionSat, 02 Feb 2008 05:38:53 -0800 by lukegordonharrisThis Video was made as an introduction for a segment of the Reunion of Scripture Union Schoolies '07. This segment was called "Pluggers" and featured novel little things like humour and liturgical dancing. This intro tried to initiate that feeling and was a foray into sharpening my After Effects skills.Tools:Visuals - After Effects Pro CS3 (no external plugins)- Premiere Pro for final layering of video & audio** Must give note here to Andrew Kramer of VideoCopilot.net - fantastic tutorials - finally someone who teaches After Effects but still knows what's cool :) Alot of the camera motion is ripped from his Basic Training, and the 3D render of the Pluggers Logo is done using a technique garnered from Creative Cow.Audio -Ableton Live 6 for composing of Score, layering of score and sound FX and final mastering. Was also used to composite sound FX.The THX intro is imitated, but I want to give credit to them for one of the simplest, shortest and best pieces of Electronic Music around. Kudos!
