| Sunday Leader Editor Killed 08-01-09Thu, 08 Jan 2009 09:49:52 -0800 by yahaluwaSunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickramatunga has passed away...Mr. Wickramatunga who sustained fatal injuries in an attack this morning, was admitted to the Colombo South Hospital. Thereafter, he succumbed to injuries. Police Media Spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said two unidentified persons who had come on a motor bike had opened fire at the Sunday Leader Editor at the Bakery Junction in Attidiya, while he was on his way to office. The Hospital staff was engaged in an untiring effort to save the life of Mr. Wickramatunga. A team of specialized surgeons was rushed from the Colombo National Hospital to Kalubowila at the behest of the President.
