| My Skate 2 ReviewThu, 08 Jan 2009 06:11:15 -0800 by rjv14I had exams on school, so school was out early. I quickly came home and checked XBL marketplace... But there wasn't a game named Skate 2. So I helped my father and that kind of stuff. And I came home again and YES!!! It was there!I Downloaded the game, and meanwhile I was playing the Skate 1 DEMO to get in the mood. But when I started the game, the disappointment was allready there...So I started the game and watched the video. I can say the story was weird:You are a skater who came from prsion after a disaster in San Vanelona. Because of the disaster, the whole city is a new city, New San Vanelona.If you want to know what the disapointment was, it was just like a criminal game. I don't hate criminal games, but come on, it's a skate game!So I watched the video and I could choose between career mode and Party Mode with 2 players. I did career.So I came into a face-maker-thing, to customize your face (Yeah you can create your own skater on the DEMO). And another disappointment, it WAS just like a criminal game. It looks exactly like Saints Row 2. And I tell you what. It wasn't half as nice as Tony Hawk's Proving Ground. Your hair was just like one big thing. On THPG it looks like there is really hair, not a clay thing with some things point out of it.But that's not so bad, it's about the skating, not on how your hair looks like ;)So I came into the clothes lounge. I have to say there is a very big variety of clothes. And it looks pretty nice. There was very much locked and you had a limit of your money, I think it was $250. But then still enough to have you satisfied. You can also choose your own deck, trucks and wheels. AND you can choose how your trucks are (Loose, Medium, Thight) And in those options there are 3 other options to choose between them. And you can choose how your wheels are (Soft, Medium, Hard) And seriously, I was thinking about this last time, and I never heard of this. I was thinking about a skateboarding game with stats for your skateboard, and here's the first one :D. It has definitely effect on how you skate. Soft wheels have more grip and hard wheels going faster (I don't exactly know what hard wheels was again)So I started playing. My first impression of the game when I saw it was: Oh no! It just looks like SR2"And if you wanna know: oh no... This skateboard game looks cartoony. And a skate game (definitely from EA) Don't may look like kind of cartoony. Okay, it doesn't look like Cartoony. But it's not real either. And I was afraid of it WAS really just like SR2, because I hate the game. It doesn't walk fine, I don't feel comfortable with SR2. The cars and walking is Too fast.And after thinking that, I give it a try. The skateboarding feels good. It is more specific with flip tricks, it's easier than Skate with controling the tricks.I hadn't much time left, because of trying the create-a-modus. So I had to hurry with story line. But I got with every event I did, extra time. So I played out the story line, which is very short. But I had to get of my board. And I can say, the walking sucks, but it's better than SR2, and it's just like GTA 4, but worse :PIt steers very heavy and it takes a time to get comfortable with. But it's cool. You can modify the game environment. Just get of your board (Y) and simply click and hold RB, you move the objects with the left stick, and turn them with right. But the objects are really easy to move, when you skate it, it just go somewhere else and you can move very heavy things too -_-But after all it was a cool game, and I will give it another try to get in the mood. I definitely will buy it (Skateboard game, so it's clear).
