Although the line-up appears to be a typical jazz quartet consisting of alto-sopranosax, piano-rhodes, double bass and drums, further investigation reveals the group to be anything but typical.The grooves originate from latin- and pop-music rather than from the pure swing feel of traditional jazz. Yet there is abundant space for improvisation within the music, so "acoustic fusion" might be the most appropriate description. However on their first CD, "By Nature", you'll find synthesizers, arpegiators, sound processors and sequencers within the arrangements as well.The intention is to blend these elements harmonically with the conventional instruments of the quartet. In a live setting, these electronic elements are absent because the pieces are composed in such a way that they can easily do without these additional computer orchestrations.
