IDF rounds upHamas prisoners !!???? ??? ??????? ???? ???? ?? ????
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 04:54:25 -0800 by ArchivesAlgeriennes

IDF rounds up Hamas prisoners At least one Palestinian has been killed after a UN relief agency convoy came under fire from Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip, officials say.The attack took place on Thursday as the lorries travelled to the Erez crossing to pick up supplies that were to have been allowed in during a three-hour ceasefire.Thursday's pause in the 13-day Israeli offensive to allow humanitarian aid into the strip was scheduled to last from 1pm (11:00 GMT) to 4pm (14:00 GMT).The Israeli military said that it was checking reports of the incident.John Ging, the head of the UN relief agency in Gaza, said that the casualties were Palestinian civilian contractors contracted to bring supplies from the crossing points."They were co-ordinating their movements with the Israelis, as they always do, only to find themselves being fired at from the ground troops," he told Al Jazeera."It has resulted tragically in the death of one and the injury of two others."Wednesday's three-hour ceasefire allowed beleaguered Gazans and aid workers to recover dead bodies, treat the wounded, and gather much-needed supplies in and around Gaza City.Earlier on Thursday, thousands of Palestinians fled their homes in the southern Gaza Strip as Israeli forces bombarded Rafah after dropping leaflets to warn local residents about an impending blitz.Witnesses said that homes, suspected smuggling tunnels and a mosque were hit in the area along the Egyptian border early on Thursday. The leaflets warned that that the Israeli military "will bomb the area due to its use by terrorists to [dig] tunnels and to stock up" on weapons.Hundreds of tunnels are believed to cross under the Egyptian border around Rafah allowing Palestinians to smuggle in basic supplies, in short supply due to the Israeli blockade, and weapons. An Israeli army spokeswoman said the military dropped the flyers "as in the past to avoid civilian casualties".At least 700 Palestinians, including 219 children, have died in Gaza since Israel began its assault on December 27. More than 3,080 people have also been wounded.Eight Israeli soldiers and three civilians have died in the same period.Al Jazeera's Ayman Mohyeldin, reporting from Gaza City, said the flyers would have frightened the civilian population of southern Gaza."Israel has cut the northern part of Gaza from the southern part. Those in the southern part wouldn't be able to go to the north seeking refuge and vice versa," he said.Mohyeldin said there was also another night of heavy bombardment in the north around Gaza City."Most of the targets hit throughout the northern part of the territory included mosques and homes that have been previously struck on the previous days of this conflict. Some of the government buildings and police stations that were nearly destroyed are now completely levelled," he said. The AFP news agency quoted witnesses as saying that dozens of Israeli tanks had entered southern Gaza and were heading towards Rafah.Fierce fighting was also reported between Palestinian fighters and Israeli soldiers around Khan Yunis. It was unclear if the latest offensive was the "third stage" of the offensive approved by the Israeli security cabinet on Wednesday.A senior Israeli defence official said a meeting chaired by Ehud Olmert, the prime minister, had "approved continuing the ground offensive, including a third stage that would broaden it by pushing deeper into populated areas".The International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) on Thursday accused the Israeli military of not helping wounded Palestinians in an incident in Gaza City that it described as "shocking".ICRC and Palestinian Red Crescent workers said in a statement that several wounded Palestinians and four weakened children were found alongside 12 dead bodies in houses hit by shelling in Zaytun, less than 100 metres from Israeli positions."The ICRC believes that in this instance the Israeli military failed to meet its obligation under international humanitarian law to care for and evacuate the wounded," it said. The Red Cross team, including four ambulances, had only gained safe passage from Israeli army to access the neighbourhood on January 7 after trying for four days, the ICRC said. Meanwhile, Israeli security forces in the occupied West Bank shot dead a Palestinian in a confrontation at a Jewish settlement near Jerusalem, Israeli radio reported.

As a promising dancer in high school, Sarah Johnson (Julia Stiles) hoped to be admitted to study at Juilliard and invited her mother to attend the audition. Sarah failed in this first attempt, then was horrified to discover that her mother had been involved in a fatal car crash in her haste to arrive at the tryout. Wracked with guilt, Sarah gives up on ballet entirely. After her mother's death, Sarah moves in with her estranged father (Terry Kinney). He plays the trumpet in a local Chicago jazz band and lives in a predominantly black neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. At her new high school, Sarah is one of only a handful of white girls, but is befriended quickly by Chenille (Kerry Washington). Chenille's brother, Derek (Sean Patrick Thomas), is a promising student with dreams of going to Georgetown Medical School.Chenille invites Sarah to a dance club called STEPPS, where she has her first experience dancing to hip hop rhythms. Derek dedicates himself to helping her develop her talent, and they practice in abandoned warehouses, school classrooms and anywhere they can find. As they become closer, Derek takes a reluctant Sarah to the Joffrey Ballet and afterwards, Sarah confides in him all about her mother and her dreams of Juilliard. Later they return to the club and amaze others with their dancing, although Derek also sees his ex-girlfriend, Nikki, and engages in a round of "dirty dancing" with her, temporarily putting off Sarah. Little by little, Derek and Sarah become romantically involved. Having already achieved his dream of being accepted at Georgetown, Derek convinces her that she needs to do what she wants, and to follow her dreams, but she needs to get back into dance shape.Back at school, Nikki picks a fight with Sarah. Chenille tells Sarah that she didn't approve of the fight but can understand the bitterness since Sarah, a white girl, is seen as stealing one of the few good black men in the school. Because of this, Sarah breaks up with Derek.Derek also has a friend named Malakai (Fredro Starr) from whom he has become somewhat estranged. After a drive-by at the basketball court, Malakai wants payback, and needs help. Derek is torn over repaying his friend's past loyalty at the risk of his own college plans.Scenes of Sarah's audition for Juilliard, in which Derek arrives at a crucial moment to offer encouragement, alternate with scenes of Malakai's shoot-out, in which friends are killed by a rival gang and Malakai is arrested. The film closes as Derek, Sarah, Chenille and their friends join at STEPPS to celebrate Sarah's successful audition.

Space Shuttle Challenger/Columbia Accidents
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 04:23:20 -0800 by blenk71

So Sad, God Bless All Those That Were Affected By These Accidents. RIP Copyright NASA Chrisvalentines.com Mission statistics Mission name STS-51-L Space Shuttle Challenger Crew size 7 Launch pad 39-B Launch date 1986-01-28 16:38:00 UTC Landing Did not land, destroyed shortly after liftoff(1986-02-03 17:12 UTC planned) Mission duration 73 seconds(6 days 34 minutes planned) Number of orbits Failed to achieve orbit(96 planned) Orbital altitude 150 nautical miles (280 km) (planned) The accident caused the death of all seven crew members of the STS-51-L mission.STS-51-L was the twenty-fifth flight of the American Space Shuttle program, which marked the first time a civilian had flown aboard the Space Shuttle. The mission used Space Shuttle Challenger, which lifted off from Launch Complex 39-B on January 28, 1986 from Kennedy Space Center, Florida. The mission ended in disaster following the destruction of Challenger 73 seconds after lift-off because of the failure of an O-ring seal on Challenger's right Solid Rocket Booster (SRB). The failure of the seal allowed a blowtorch-like flare to impinge upon one of two aft SRB attach struts, which eventually failed, freeing the booster to pivot about its remaining attachment points. Subsequently, the forward part of the booster cylinder impacted the external tank (ET) intertank area, leading to a structural failure of the ET?the core structural component of the entire stack. A rapid burning of liberated propellants ensued. With the structural "backbone" of the stack compromised and breaking up, the SRBs flew off on their own, as did the orbiter, rapidly disintegrating due to the overwhelming aerodynamic forces. Evidence found in the remnants of the crew cabin showed that several of the emergency air supplies (PEAPs) carried by the astronauts had been manually activated, suggesting that the forces during breakup of the orbiter were not inherently fatal and that at least some crew members were alive after the craft broke up.Mission statistics Mission name STS-107 Space Shuttle Columbia Crew size 7 Launch pad LC-39A Launch date January 16, 2003 15:39:00 UTC Landing Catastrophic Failure -- Shuttle disintegrated at re-entry on February 1, 2003 at ~13:59:32 UTC Mission duration 15 days 22:20:32 Number of orbits 255 Orbital altitude 307 km Orbital inclination 39.0 degrees Distance traveled 10.6 million km STS-107 was a space shuttle mission by NASA using the Space Shuttle Columbia, launched January 16, 2003. The seven-member crew died on February 1, 2003 when the shuttle disintegrated during re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. The cause of the accident was determined to be a piece of foam that broke off during launch and damaged the thermal protection system components (reinforced carbon-carbon panels and thermal protection tiles) on the leading edge of the left wing of the Shuttle orbiter, causing an extensive heat build-up. During re-entry the damaged wing slowly overheated and came apart, eventually leading to loss of control and total disintegration of the vehicle.

5 Minutes Bible Study - Life Within
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 04:14:44 -0800 by Faith1316

LIFE WITHIN by Dr. Harold SalaI will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26Is it possible that there has been life on Mars? Scientists are now saying, Yes, it is. What some have suggested may be one of the most spectacular scientific discoveries since humans first gazed skyward is the result of having discovered an ancient rock which is believed to have come from Mars. It was found in Antarctica in 1984. It contains fossils of one-celled organisms similar to those found on earth. And how did the chunk of rock get here? Scientists postulate that it was blasted off the surface of Mars when an asteroid hit the planet some time ago, possibly 15 million years ago. And how long has it been on planet earth? Possibly 13,000 years, so goes scientific jargon. One of the questions in my mind is, How do we know it came from Mars, and not from the moon, or Jupiter, or from the catalog of the Great Outdoors Company? Conceding that the rock came from Mars, the findings may or may not prove there was life there. The jury is still out. Life in outer space--who knows? There is one thing for sure: It isnt the emptiness of outer space but the vacuum in the inner space of the heart which really causes us problems.Im thinking of the great experiment known as Biosphere 2. Some eight scientists agreed to live in a futuristic glass dome where they would grow their produce and food in a self-contained environment. Under the big dome were trees, plants, vegetables and everything to sustain life, so they thought. The experiment failed miserably, and far short of their projected goal the folks walked out and quit. The real problem was not the cockroaches and the ants which had been uninvited. The most difficult part was dealing with seven other people said botanist Linda Leigh. The eight left as bitter foes. She told the press, If we ever all start talking to each other, that would be a major accomplishment. You know something? The same thing could be said by a lot of couples. If we ever start talking to each other, that would be a major accomplishment. Whats wrong? We may be able to take advanced degrees in science and math. We may be able to define the path of meteors and asteroids and measure the heavens in terms of light years, but something is wrong in the deep inner spaces of our hearts which makes us greedy and vindictive. In looking back, said Linda Leigh, I guess its pretty remarkable all eight of us came out alive. Her comments reminded me of the comments of some who went through the terrible confinement of the concentration camps of the Holocaust. Whats wrong? The same thing that has been wrong with humanity for centuries. Its what destroys the happiness of marriages, that turns friends into enemies, that fills our prisons with people who thought they would never get caught. Jeremiah described the problem, saying, The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? (Jeremiah 17:9).It is the manifestation of what the Bible calls sin. Have you ever noticed that in the English word the letter i is in the middle of that word? Ego--me first--whether it is eight locked in project Biosphere who fight over food, or a husband who insists on his satisfaction, ignoring the needs of his wife, selfishness is at the heart of our problems. There is good news, however. The Bible not only defines the problem but says the solution is a new heart which comes through the rejuvenation of Gods Holy Spirit. Heres the promise: I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26). The promise which God gave to Israel is the hope for tomorrow.Resource reading: Ezekiel 36:1-32.

Adolf Merckle, one of Germany's richest men, has committed suicide after talks with creditors failed to save his business empire, which spanned from pharmaceuticals to cement. Merckle's personal wealth was estimated by Forbes to be about $9 billion, and he was known as a modest man who bicycled to work. Merckle was particularly hurt when, after shorting Volkswagen, the auto company's share price jumped after Porsche unexpectedly revealed it controlled more of VW than previously believed. He died after being hit by a train. In a statement, his family said, "The desperate situation of his companies caused by the financial crisis, the uncertainties of the last few weeks and his powerlessness to act, have broken the passionate family entrepreneur."

Madonna Louise Ciccone Ritchie (born August 16, 1958), known as Madonna, is an American recording artist and entertainer. Born in Bay City, Michigan and raised in Rochester Hills, Michigan, Madonna moved to New York City for a career in modern dance. After performing as member of the pop musical groups Breakfast Club and Emmy, she released her self-titled debut album in 1983, and then produced three consecutive number-one studio albums on the Billboard 200 in the 1980s and four more since year 2000.Madonna is known for exploring religious symbolism and sexual themes in her work. This drew criticism from the Vatican in the late 1980s.[2] In 1992, she founded an entertainment company, Maverick, which published a book of photographs (Sex). She also released a studio album (Erotica) and starred in a film (Body of Evidence) with erotic themes. These works generated negative publicity and coincided with a fall in commercial sales in the 1990s.[3] Madonna's career was revived in 1998, when the release of her album Ray of Light garnered critical acclaim.Madonna has acted in 22 films. Although many failed critically and commercially,[4] she earned a Golden Globe Award for her role in the 1996 film Evita. In 1996 Madonna gave birth to a daughter, Lourdes Maria (also known as Lola) by personal trainer Carlos Leon before marrying film director Guy Ritchie in 2000. She and Ritchie have two sons, Rocco and David Banda, a Malawian boy they adopted in 2006, which caused media allegations they violated that country's adoption laws.Madonna has been regarded as "one of the greatest pop acts of all time" and dubbed the "Queen of Pop" by various sources.[5][6][7] She is ranked by the Recording Industry Association of America as the best-selling female rock artist of the twentieth century and the second top-selling female artist in the United States with 63 million certified albums.[8][9] Guinness World Records list her as the world's most successful female recording artist of all time and the top-earning female singer in the world with an estimated net worth of US$490 million, having sold over 200 million records worldwide.[10][11][1 2][13] On March 10, 2008, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.[++++++++++++++ +++Guy Lionel Ritchie (born 10 September 1968 in Hatfield, Hertfordshire[1][2]) is a English screenwriter and film director. On 22 December, 2000, he married the American pop singer and actress Madonna at Skibo Castle in Scotland. They have a son, Rocco, born 11 August 2000 in Los Angeles, California, and have adopted a Malawian baby boy, David. On 15 October, 2008, British media reported that a split was "imminent" between Ritchie and Madonna.[15] The split has since been confirmed by their spokesperson[16] and Ritchie and Madonna are said to go public with the split because they "cant bear to live with the pretence any longer".[17]It has been reported in October 2008 that Ritchie is dating actress Kelly Reilly, whom he has cast in the lead role of his current film, Sherlock Holmes. [18] [19]On 18 May, 2000, Ritchie was arrested by the police after he assulted a 20-year-old man outside the Kensington home he shared with the singer, causing actual bodily harm.[20]Ritchie was the inspiration for, and is the subject of, singer Robbie Williams' single "She's Madonna" from his 2006 album Rudebox.Ritchie started training in Shotokan karate at the age of seven at the Budokwai in London, where he later achieved a black belt in judo.[21] He also has a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.[22] Ritchie is a fan of Chelsea Football Club.[23]Madonna and Guy Ritchie's marriage was dissolved by District Judge Reid by decree nisi at the clinical Principal Registry of the Family Division in High Holborn, London. Madonna, 50, and Ritchie, 40, entered into a compromise agreement for Rocco, 8, and David Banda, 3, and divided the children's time between Ritchies London home and Madonnas in New York, where the two will be joined by her daughter Lourdes, 12, from a previous relationship. Ritchie waived rights to any part of Madonnas wealth.[24] .[25] On December 15, 2008, it was announced by Madonna's spokeswoman that the singer had agreed a divorce settlement with Ritchie, the terms of which grant him between £50million and £60million, a figure that includes the value of the couple's country house in England. It is thought to be the biggest divorce payout in history. [26] The statement also confirmed that custody of the couple's children had yet to be finalised.[27].
