NEW Lady Gaga: Just Dance - VIOLIN + VIOLA COVER (split scr)- WWW.VIOLINPRO.TK
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 04:23:37 -0800 by sonia276867

DOWNLOAD @ http://violinpro.tkL ady Gaga (ft Colby O'Donis): Just Dance - VIOLIN + VIOLA COVERThis is the 7th in my continuing series of classicalized popular music. As with all my covers, my tendency is to play the first verse straight, an exact imitation of the original song, so you don't see the good stuff till half way through or so.This performance is the second of my split screen videos where I play with myself. To do this video, I listened to the original song (seen here: http://www.youtube.c om/watch?v=M65zI9... ) and by ear wrote out a sheet music score, then arranged it as a violin viola duet, and then performed it. I recorded each part separately, first the violin, then the viola. I was able to sync up and mix the 2 parts on my computer with a sound wave editor. To do the split screen, I used AviSynth (scripting based video editing and effects utility) in combination with VirtualDubMod (a free video editing utility) to sync up and render the two videos into a single split screen video. The sound then had to be synced to the 2 videos playing simultaneously.Other technical notes: My camera is an old piece of junk which doesn't even record sound without static and many glitchy effects, so the sound was recorded separately on my computer using a cheap $5 microphone, same one I use for VIOP chat when playing online mutltiplayer 1st person shooter games, sadly it is better than my camera. For those that do not know what a viola is, its basically like the violin but bigger and lower sounding. It plays 5 notes or about half an octave lower than a violin, on the notes it shares with violin the viola sounds deeper, and it reads a different clef (alto) for its sheet music. Description of a viola for violinists: "A big honkin violin, missing the E string at the top of the range and gaining a C string at the bottom of the range and reads a funny looking clef". Also, in a survival situation, the viola would be preferred, as it burns longer. The viola in this video (right side frame) is just a Knilling student model, 17 inch.Lastly: For those who have seen my other violin covers, I would like some feedback. My first 5 videos all included a recording of the original song playing in the background. These last two, "Just Dance" and "Let it Rock" are all me. Should I continue in this style, where I play the piece completely myself without the original recording playing in the background? Should I stick to violin only covers? Or should I mix it up (probably what Ill do) and do whatever?

Touch Of Evil - 1998 Re-issue Trailer 1958
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 04:02:59 -0800 by foxter65

This baroque nightmare of a south-of-the-border mystery is considered to be one of the great movies of Orson Welles, who both directed and starred in it. On honeymoon with his new bride, Susan (Janet Leigh), Mexican-born policeman Mike Vargas (Charlton Heston) agrees to investigate a bomb explosion. In so doing, he incurs the wrath of local police chief Hank Quinlan (Welles), a corrupt, bullying behemoth with a perfect arrest record. Vargas suspects that Quinlan has planted evidence to win his past convictions, and he isn't about to let the suspect in the current case be railroaded. Quinlan, whose obsession with his own brand of justice is motivated by the long-ago murder of his wife, is equally determined to get Vargas out of his hair, and he makes a deal with local crime boss Uncle Joe Grandi (Akim Tamiroff) to frame Susan on a drug rap, leading to one of the movie's many truly harrowing sequences. Touch of Evil dissects the nature of good and evil in a hallucinatory, nightmarish ambience, helped by the shadow-laden cinematography of Russell Metty and by the cast, which, along with Tamiroff and Welles includes Charlton Heston as a Mexican; Marlene Dietrich, in a brunette wig, as a brittle madam who delivers the movie's unforgettable closing words; Mercedes McCambridge as a junkie; and Dennis Weaver as a tremulous motel clerk. Touch of Evil has been released with four different running times -- 95 minutes for the 1958 original, which was taken away from Welles and brutally cut by the studio; 108 minutes and 114 minutes in later versions; and 111 minutes in the 1998 restoration. Based on a 58-page memo written by Welles after he was barred from the editing room during the film's original post-production, this restoration, among numerous other changes, removed the opening titles and Henry Mancini's music from the opening crane shot, which in either version ranks as one of the most remarkably extended long takes in movie history.Charlton Heston - Ramon Miguel VargasJanet Leigh - Susan VargasOrson Welles - Hank QuinlanJoseph Calleia - Pete MenziesAkim Tamiroff - Uncle Joe GrandiJoanna Moore - Marcia LinnekarRay Collins - District Attorney AdairDennis Weaver - Motel ManagerVal de Vargas - PanchoMort Mills - SchwartzVictor Millan - Manolo SanchezLalo Rios - RistoPhil Harvey - BlaineJoi Lansing - BlondeHarry Shannon - GouldRusty Wescoatt - CaseyWayne Taylor - Gang MemberKen Miller - Gang MemberRaymond Rodriguez - Gang MemberArlene McQuade - GinnieJoseph Cotten - DetectiveMarlene Dietrich - TanyaZsa Zsa Gabor - Owner of NightclubMercedes McCambridge - HoodlumKeenan Wynn - Man

WWW.GOODNEWS.WS The Great Crossing of Saturn's rings
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 02:47:15 -0800 by SUPERGOODNEWS

This spectacular movie sequence of Saturn and its ring system was obtained thanks to clear-filter images taken with the Cassini spacecraft wide-angle camera on 17 January 2007, at a distance of approximately 900 000 kilometres from Saturn. The image scale is 48 kilometres per pixel. This movie begins with a view looking toward the lit side of the rings from about 9° below the ring plane and ends when the spacecraft is 8° above the ring plane. The movie captures Saturn's rings during a ring plane crossing - which Cassini makes twice per orbit - from the spacecraft's point of view. The movie begins with a view of the sunlit side of the rings. As the spacecraft speeds from south to north, the rings appear to tilt downward and collapse to a thin plane, and then open again to reveal the un-illuminated side of the ring plane, where sunlight filters through only dimly. The striking contrast between the sunlit and unlit sides of the ring plane can now be fully appreciated, thanks to the sense of continuity in time and space provided by this brief clip. The movie consists of 34 images taken over the course of 12 hours as Cassini pierced the ring plane. Additional frames were inserted between the original images in order to smooth the motion in the sequence (a scheme called interpolation). Six moons careen through the field of view during the sequence. The first large one is Enceladus, whose slanted motion from the upper left to centre right nicely illustrates the inclination of its orbit with respect to the rings. The second large one, seen in the second half of the movie, is Mimas, going from right to left.WWW.GOODNEWS.WS The Great Crossing of Saturn's rings

Tricks of the Incline leg press
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 01:56:51 -0800 by sounddoctorin

Bob Weigel of http://www.sounddoct orin.com covers some of the technical aspects of the Inclined Leg Press, and why there are so many radical variations in the amount of weight some people can lift. The 2300lb lift by Robbie Coleman for example is detailed a bit; noting how he uses his great arm strength to boost up the load along with his legs, but also doesn't have the legs bent at a functional 90 degree angle. People have different distances from the back of their hips to the heel. And the longer that length the more difficult it will be to lift weights on the same lifting machine setup. On typical incline presses only the back angle is adjustable. In my accompanying lifting video I also show how putting a back cushion in the picture, which I usually work out with, increases the angle to a little OVER 90 degrees in rest position with my 6' long legged frame. The incline press is not a pure leg press as I note also. You must add the rigging weight to the actual weights on board and multiple that sum total by approximately .71 (the sin of 45 degrees which is the approximate angle of the sled). This is due to the physical fact that gravitational force of the weight is downward and we are diverting a component of that towards you with the sled.

The Unborn is a movie being released January 9th, most people see a film to take their significant others to. Others see a lame horror film. I see a secretly hidden message about birth control. So, I cut out the unimportant pieces and left in the ones that matter. Along with a bit of theatrical additions and replacing the title frames, here's what I saw.
