| My Totally Un-Normal Life: Chapter 24Wed, 07 Jan 2009 14:02:15 -0800 by jonastwin92chapter 24I looked into the mirror. Today was Christmas morning. After that, 6 months for my wedding. 6 months before i become Mrs. Matt Russell. 6 months to change my mind. 6 months to... I sighed. This was getting more and more stressful every day. Matt came into my room, "Hey baby. You almost ready to got to my parent's house?" I nodded, "How do I look?" i twirled around in my red dress. Matt winked, "You look fine to me, Mrs. Russell." I giggled, "Thankyou Mr. Russell." He smiled and took me in his arms. He sighed, "I'm so glad you want to get married. I've always dreamed of you walking down the aisle at our wedding, and now i can't believe it's only 6 months away." I nodded exitedly, "i know! We've been engaged for 6 months today." He looked at me then smiled, "So you did remember." I playfully slapped my hand on his arm, "Of course i would remember. This is really important and special for me." He grinned, "Speaking of special, i bought you this for your graduation, and for our anniversary." He brought out a long box and handed it to me, "Happy Anniversary, babe. and Merry Christmas" He kissed me on the forhead, "hope you like it." I always got excited when someone gave me a present, "Can I open it now?" He laughed, "Go for it." I sat on my bed then motioned him to sit next to me, "I want you to open your present at the same time i open mine." I went into my closet and also brought out a long box, "Happy Anniversary, babe."i giggled, "and Merry Christmas", i kissed him gently, he called it the teasing kiss. "Aw, Lizzie. You didn't have to." i nodded, "I wanted to. Now let's open them at the count of three. One..Two...Matt!" i laughed. He had began to tear the paper on the count of two. I just giggled and waited for him to open his present. He lifted the box, and his mouth dropped open, "No way!" I grinned, i knew he would like it. "Aw babe! This is amazing!" he pulled out his new gold electric guitar. "How'd you get the wood done like this?" I shook my head, "It's not wood. It's pure gold." His eyes popped open, "What?!" i smiled, "You like it?" "Like it? I love it!" He tackled me on the bed and kissed me over and over again, "You..are..the..best !" he said between kisses. I giggled then gasped, "Matt! You're getting my dressed wrinkled!" He got off of me, "Sorry." he laughed, "Man! i can't wait to show it off." I smiled, "That's not all." i went to my drawer and pulled out a black leather guitar strap with gold fire on it. He ran to me and squeezed me, "Oh my gosh. You are amazing." He grabbed the back of my neck and pressed me to him as he gave a kiss. I laughed, "I'm so glad you like it." i hugged him. He lay his head against mine and we cuddled for a few seconds. Then he broke our embrace, "Oh wait! We haven't opened your gift yet!" I jumped up and down. "Oh my goodness! I completely forgot!" we jumped on the bed and together we wripped the Christmas wrapping off the box, "Wait hold on!" i stopped him from shredding the paper, "Is that Santa Clause with an electric guitar on the box?" Matt looked down, "Oh wow! I didn't even notice it." we both laughed and i opened the box. "Oh, Matt!" I pulled out my new silver guitar, along with a black leather strap decorated with silver fire, and one single red rose in the center, "This is beautiful.""Wait till you se the back," he flipped over the guitar, and there were my initials in metalic purple. I looked him up at him and threw my arms around him, "Thankyou so much! I love it, and I love you even more!" He grinned, "I fall in love with you every day, babe." we laughed and tried out our new guitars. I looked into the mirror, then gasped, "Hey, Matt! our guitars are almost the same, ecxept yours is gold and mine is silver." He stood beside me, "Yeah, you're right. I guess we're on the same page." I smiled, "I guess we're really meant for each other." He kissed me gently, "Who else would you spend your life with?" My mind flashed back to a picture of Nick, but now, he seemed faint, unreal, a bad dream. I realized that that's the moment that i let go of Nick. Nick Jonas died in me today, and the love i had for him was now even stronger, and steadier with Matt Russell. Related: jb | |

| IN LOVING MEMORY OF SARITA SOLETOWed, 07 Jan 2009 13:55:48 -0800 by unclesam625Three weeks before she was born, Sirita Sotelo was the subject of a Child Protective Services (CPS) referral, alleging prenatal substance abuse by her mother. After she tested positive for cocaine at birth on February 12, 2000, CPS filed for dependency and placed Sirita in foster care. Over the next three years, CPS made numerous attempts to reunite Sirita with her mother. Services were provided to address the mothers substance abuse and mental health issues. Four times Sirita was placed with her mother, only to again be removed due to allegations of abuse and neglect. During this period, Sirita experienced seven different placement episodes, alternating between foster care and placement with her mother. She spent over 25 months in foster care, in eight different foster homes, 2 and 19 months placed with her mother. While efforts were being made to reunite Sirita with her mother, her father, who was notified of the dependency action, did not involve himself in the dependency process or seek placement of Sirita. In May 2003, the CPS filed for termination of parental rights, based on the length of time Sirita had been in state care, the failed reunification attempts with the mother, and the fathers lack of participation in the dependency action or reunification efforts. However, after learning that the department was seeking to terminate parental rights, Siritas father stepped forward and requested that she be placed with him and his wife. Sirita was with her foster mom and tried to adopt Sirita with her husband Gary. CPS conducted a home study and developed a service plan for the father, which included a drug/alcohol assessment, parenting classes, weekly visits with Sirita and a psychological evaluation. The father successfully completed these services and in November 2003, Sirita was placed with her father, stepmother and their four children. Monthly visits to check on Siritas health and safety occurred in December 2003, January 2004, February 2004 and the last visit occurred in May 2004. Although caseworkers identified a need for counseling, this service was not implemented. On January 22, 2005 only two months after the dependency case was closed, CPS received a referral from law enforcement reporting a suspicious death of a four year old Sirita. The stepmother and another relative had been with Sirita the night of her death and reportedly called poison control stating that Sirita had gotten sick eating glue. Later that evening, the relative checked on Sirita and found her dead and then called 911. According to law enforcement the child appeared gaunt, malnourished and pale. Medical examiners later determined she died as a result of blows to the head and body causing a fractured skull and severed liver. The stepmother later stated that she couldnt handle Siritas fits and tantrums and admitted she threw her in a cold shower and beat her after the child wet her pants.
